Glucose transports proteins densely populate erythrocyte (RBC)membranes and facilitates the diffusion of glucose into RBCs. Why do RBC require glucose,rather than fatty acids or amino acids,as an energy source?

Red blood cells lack mitochondria so their only energy option is glycolysis.
