Would it be possible and/or appropriate to design a genetic screen to look for a gene(s) involved in homosexuality?

Answers may vary, but may include similar issues about privacy and confidentiality that may be an issue for any genetic disorder. Patients may be interested to identify a genetic component to better understand their psychology and physiology, but it is important to remember that homosexuality is likely to be a multifactorial predisposition controlled by a combination of many different genes as well as environmental factors. Thus, the chances of identifying a single gene responsible for homosexuality are slim and this complicates any attempt to design a wide-scale screening effort.
