A computer designer has to consider the brightness of the screen, the energy it consumes, the lifetime of the battery. What extremes break the laptop? How many G's are made when it hits the floor? How many G's will the internal parts handle? If you leave it in a car on a sunny day, how hot can it get? Some memory devices lose bits when hit by cosmic rays. How often does that happen? How do you design around it? How fast can your electronics pass data along the buses?
As for "using" the computer, how large an angle should the screen subtend for good viewing? How can you reduce its weight for portability?
