I am not too sure how to solve this problem:

The Wind exerts a force of 452 N north on a sailboat while the water exerts a force of 325 N west on the sailboat. Find the magnitude and direction of the net force on the boat.

they are acting at 90 degrees to eat othe so pythagoras' theorum is used to calculate the magnitude of the force    it is A^2+B^2=C^2    so 452^2+325^2=resultant ^2     556.7N is the resultant force

magnitude: sqrt(452^2+325^2)=556.71
direction arctan(452/325)=54.28 degrees North of West

make it a good day
