A (g) + B(g) Rightwards Arrow C(g)

The reaction above is second order with respect to A and zero order with respect
to B. Reactants A and B are present in a closed container. Predict how each
of the following changes to the reaction system wll affect the rate and rate
constant. Explain!

a.More gas A is added to the container.
b.More gas B is added to the container.
c.The temperature is increased.
d.An inert gas D is added to the container.
e.The volume of the container is decreased.

a.
R = k [A]^2 ^0 = k [A]^2
Increasing the concentration of A increase the rate.

b.
Increasing the concentration of B has no affect on the rate because the reaction is zero order with respect to B.

c.
The rate can't be predicted without knowing whether the reaction is endothermic or exothermic.

d.
Adding an inert gas D doesn't affect the rate because the partial pressures of A and B are not affected.

e.
When the V is decreased, the concentration of A increases, which increases the rate of the forward reaction. The concentration of B is also increased, but the reaction is zero order with respect to B.
