 ADH is a hormone produced by the hypothalamus and secreted into the blood stream by the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland.

ADH is secreted in response to decreased water in the blood.

 It affects the collecting ducts in the kidney,causing them to become more pemeable and so more water is reabsorbed and a more concentrated urine is produced.

So, regulate the body's retention of water; it is released when the body is dehydrated and causes the kidneys to conserve water,antidiuretic hormone has two effects by which it contributes to increased urine osmolality (increased concentration) and decreased water excretion
