= sqrt [ (-3 -2)^2 + (6 - (-1))^2 + (7-4)^2]
= sqrt [(-5)^2 + 7^2 + 3^2]
= sqrt [25 + 49 + 9]
= sqrt (83)
= 9.11

it is basically the square root of the sum of the squares of the difference in lengths in the x, y, and z directions.

Watch the signs- I messed up the first time!
