Most animal fats form a solid at room temperature, while plant fats remain liquid at room temperature. Why are unsaturated hydrocarbons of lipids in plant membranes the answer for best explaining this difference?

The kinks found in the molecular structure of unsaturated fatty acids allows them to be free-flowing, or liquid at room temperature. Saturated fatty acids don't have bends or kinks.
