To generate magnetism you need charged, neutrons have no charge, then how do neutron stars generate their magnetic fields?

Neutrons themselves have magnetic fields.


Neutrons are particles of zero NET CHARGE, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they don't have CONSTITUENT particles that have charge.  Indeed they do, those particles are called QUARKS.

Three quarks make a neutron.  Two down quarks each of charge -1/3 elementary charge unit, and one up quark of charge +2/3 elementary charge unit.
