what is csc 3?/4 equivalent to while using the unit circle.  The answer is root 4, but I don't know how to get to that answer with the unit circle.
Edit: the answer is root 2 not root 4.

The answer should be root 2. Hint: in 2nd quadrant y is positive.  The relevant point on the unit circle is on the on the "45 degree line" going up to the left from the origin.

csc 3?/4 = 1/(sin 3?/4)

sin 3?/4, from the unit circle, is?2/2, so csc 3?/4 is ?2.   It is NOT ?4 = 2.

The answer is root 2 --- not root 4

So the angle is in the 2nd quadrant and makes an angle of 45 degrees with the negative x-axis.
Thus we have an isosceles right triangle wit hypotenuse = 1 and each leg = sqrt(2)/2.
Thus csc = 1/(sqrt(2))/2 = 2/sqrt(2) = sqrt(2)
