CaO is a solid, often called quicklime. It doesn't dissociate until it gets to thousands and thousands of degrees. How is this relevant to a water effluent treatment plant?

BTW, CaO also reacts violently with water.

Kb for calcium hydroxide in aqueous solution is 3.74 x 10?3. CaO turns into this if you add it to water.
