The Iranian revolutionaries who had taken American diplomats as hostages demanded the return of the Shah of Iran. What inference can you make about how the Shah would be treated if the exchange were made?

A. The revolutionaries probably intended to restore him to power.
B. The revolutionaries probably intended to try the shah in a court of law.
C. The revolutionaries probably intended to execute the shah.
D. The revolutionaries probably intended to imprison the shah indefinitely.

In Iran there was an immediate outcry and both Khomeini and leftist groups demanding the Shah's return to Iran for trial and execution.

Thank you for your reply. I was headed in the right direction... I selected trial (probably not in a court of law, now that I'm thinking about it). I'm guessing the correct answer is execution.
