so combining these two statements, P inversely proportional to T, but gay lussac law states P directly proportional to T at constant V.  How?

pressure is inversely proportional to volume

volume and pressure are directly proportional to temperature

combined gas law: p1v1/t1 = p2v2/t2

p1 x v1 = indirect proportion if pressure goes up, volume goes down
p1 / t1 = direct proportion, pressure goes up, temperature goes up
v1 / t1 = direct proportion, volume goes up, temperature goes up

now, if volume doubles and temperature doubles, there will be no change in pressure.
if volume increases by 4x and temperature doubles, pressure will go down by factor of 2
it's all in ratio of one to the others.
