I am not telling whoever is viewing this question to do my homework. I am asking you to solve this one problem. I have many others like this. Can you tell me the answer and the steps to getting the answer. Here is the problem... During the first 6 month of last year, the interest on an investment was $130 less than during the second 6 months. The total interest for the year was $1,450. What was the interest for each 6-month period? Please and Thank You:)

x=1st 6 mos     x
y=last 6 mos    x+130

x+(x+130)=1,450 drop the parentheses
x+x+130=1450
2x+130=1450 subtract 130 from both sides
2x=1320  divide both sides by 2
x=660

1st 6 mos= 660 dollars
2nd 6 mos = 790 dollars   (660+130)
