I am debating if I should take a 10 week course to become a dental asst. When I am done I will recieve a certificate in dental assisting and dental radiology. Some people say this is ok and then some say I need to go to an accredited school. The school is taught by a dentist and other ppl that work in the field. I talked to the dentist and he said I can use this program anywhere in our area. So is this something that will be good enough to get in the field?

i recently read an article in a magazine about a woman who went through a community college program (i cant remember what for exactly) but it was one of those "graduate in less than a year" type of things and at the end of it she wasnt able to find a job because although the program was advertised as "accredited"...it turned out not to be.

to be honest, this 10 week course thing sounds like one of those ads you see on TV saying how you can graduate with such and such in a short period of time...and i think those are jsut plain sketchy!

becomming a dental hygienist is a great career, but it will require you to go to univeristy and get a real legitimate degree. I would recommend you follow that type of a path as opposed to taking this 10 week course. It will take longer, be more expensive, and harder, yes - but youll end up with a better, more stable and higher paying job!
