2,3 Rightwards Arrow A developmental milestone that can indicate learning disability is a kindergartener’s being unable to button his shirt. Inability to phrase sentences is considered a delay if not done by 2½ years, inability to sit still for a short story is considered a delay if the child is 3 to 5 years old, and being unable to cut with scissors indicates a delay if not done by kindergarten age. Reciting the phone number is not appropriate for a 2-year-old.
