A nurse is teaching a class to new parents on how to handle some of the behaviors that could be demonstrated by toddlers. One of the parents asks what to do when her child throws a temper tantrum. How should the nurse respond to this parent?
1. "Try to be more attentive to the behaviors that lead into a tantrum. Then you can avoid them."
2. "Put the child in a room alone and ignore the tantrum."
3. "Make sure the child is safe, then walk away."
4. "Hold the child tightly until he stops crying."
