2 grams of sugar (solubility = 4.20 g/mL water at 90°C) was added to a travel mug of coffee (500 mL) and half the sugar dissolved with stirring in 100 secs.
The sugar had a surface area of 6 x 10^(-3)m^2(approx 1mm^3 grains).
