can you show a example problem and how impulse momentum would apply to it?

i never heard of impulse momentum.  perhaps you mean impulse and momentum.  if that true then:

impulse = the product of Force multiplied by time.  It tells you how long you have to apply a force in order to get an mass to achieve a certain velocity.

momentum = the product of mass and velocity.  It gives a quantity to the amount of difficulty it takes to change an objects velocity (in other words it quantifies the inertia of the object)
