Earth's magnetic field is weakening at an alarming rate, how long can the weaker magnetic field on the outer surface of earth which is only 0.5 to 2.0 gauss when compared to the field at earth's core that is approximately 100,000 gauss, capable of holding galactic cosmic radiations? Any scientific predictions regarding this?

A brief answer will do.

This rate is deceptive. Core samples measuring the magnetic field indicate that the field strength can increase or decrease randomly. There is no correlation to assume that a weakening of the field will result in a magnetic reversal (the ultimate result).

Although the strength of Earth's magnetic field is weakening at the present time, it is often the case of fear-mongering pseudowebsites to leave out essential information. One such fact is that the current field strength is above the past 2,000 year average.

IF the field continues to weaken at the present rate ~ and there are no indications in history to conclude that it will ~ then a magnetic field reversal would occur sometime between the years 3500AD and 4000AD.

Since the magnetic field is due to dynamo effect that is rotation, how the field is getting weaker?
