In graphing systems of equations, I want to find out how to convert standard form to slope intercept form, so that I can graph it with slope intersect form.

before you freak out before looking at all the variables, you should think about what you are trying to do.

slope intercept form is trying to get a y= mx + b equation.

so, for example, an equation in slope intercept form looks like this: y= 2x + 4. You are trying to get a standard form equation, for example 2x + 2y = 5, to slope intercept form.

You are basically trying to get y all by itself on one side first.

If the standard form equation was 10x + 2y = 8, you would start by subtracting 10x from both sides. This is slowly getting the 2y by itself.

You end up with

2y = 8 - 10x

But, you still have 2y one on side, when you actually want just y.

So you divide 2y by 2 to get y by itself. but don't forget what you do to one side, you must do to the other. so, you divide 8 and 10x by 2 as well. You end up with.

y= 4 - 5x

But STILL you're not done yet. slope intercept form is Y= mx+ b.
right now, you have y = b - mx.

so you kind of move the numbers around. you move 4 after the 5x.

now, you have

y = -5x + 4

Thats all!!!! You're done!!

I really hope I helped!!
