Do cause and effect even exist at a fundamental level, or is causality merely an approximation to a non-causal Nature?

That depends on what premise you take to be true in the first place. This question begs a distinction between subjective and objective reality of "why" as opposed to "how". Unfortunately, we only have one of those from a secular point of view.

Yes.

The latter.

As a Christian, my worldview is that God is the prime mover or in your terms, the first cause.

But this does not speak to the nature of God in that causality is temporal in its nature, but God is not temporal at all, He is internal, thus enabling Him to be the prime mover.

Causality like gravity or time, has no effect on the Creator of causality, gravity or time.

Hope that helps.

When we only see the effect we make the world our god.

I have never met an atheist who wasn't ...

A) Arrogant
B) In love with self
C) Desperate to show how smart he is

This "question" demonstrates all of the above perfectly!

You're not seeking answers!  You're not asking a question!  You're simply in professorial mode to the edification and delight of no one but yourself.

Sigh....
