To be totally accurate, folate itself is NOT a coenzyme (it's actually inactive); however tetrahydrofolate, one of the products that cells produce from folate, is an extremely important coenzyme in biochemical reactions, especially ones involving nucleic acids (such as DNA).

Vitamins can serve as precursors to many organic cofactors (e.g. vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, niacin, folic acid) or as coenzymes themselves (e.g. vitamin C). However, vitamins do have other functions in the body. Coenzyme (cofactor) is tetrahydrofolic acid, a derivative of folic acid.
Answer is true.
