When body temperature decreases below the normal range, thermoreceptors in the skin and hypothalamus detect the decrease in body temperature. The heat-promoting center of the hypothalamus is activated, which sends signals to blood vessels and skeletal muscles. In response, blood vessels in the skin constrict and skeletal muscles shiver. Determine the part of this negative feedback loop that serves as the control center.
