Events that occur during DNA replication (arranged in random order)

1. hydrogen bonds form between nucleotide bases
2. An enzyme acts like a pair of scissors to break the weak hydrogen bonds between the nitrogen bases.
3 At the replication fork, the DNA template strands determine the sequence of the nucleotides that are being replaced
4. A purine or pyramidine is inserted on a matching nucleotide of the polynucleotide strand
5. Nitrogen bases of the polynucleotide strand seperate

The correct sequence of events that occurs during DNA replication is

a. 3, 5, 2, 1, and 4
b. 3, 2, 5, 4, and 1
c. 2, 5, 3, 4, and 1
d. 2, 3, 5, 1, and 4

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

During transcription, genes function as

a. enzymes that bond tRNA with mRNA
b. a source of amino acids
c. templates for nucleotide sequences
d. a storehouse for phosphate bond energy

I believe it's A, but i'm not quite sure.

1)C
The replication fork must form with the help of DNA Helicase (step 2, and then 5) and then the DNA template strand is revealed (step 3), then the the nucleotide is inserted (step 4) and the hydrogen bond forms between the bases (step 1).

2)C
A) is wrong because genes don't really have bonding properties
B) is wrong because genes don't contain amino acids, proteins do!
C) is correct because you need the gene to code for the nucleotide sequences
D) they have phosphate backbones, but not for energetic purposes

I hope this helps! Slight Smile
