A wave pulse moves along a uniform string. The speed of the wave is constant but the speed of the particles of the string changes with time.

How and why is this true?

speed of wave is a property of the medium.changing speed requires change in medium,if wave travels and speed remains constant.it means it is travelling in same medium.
 wave moves relatively fast, while the particles oscillate around their original position with a relatively small particle velocity.
