We dropped a ton of contraptions off the roof of the school and I'm supposed to find the initial velocity of the objects. I think it would be zero but I think I remember my teacher saying that it isn't zero. I don't know how to find it. The information we have is: height of building, weight of objects, and the amount of time it took for the object to fall.

Bonus: can anyone tell me how to do equations on Google spread sheet?

The initial velocity would be zero if you simply held the object out and let it go. The only time initial velocity wouldn't be zero would be if you threw the object (either if you threw it down towards the ground or up, and then let it fall). So Vinitial=0 m/s.

As for your bonus, i'm sorry to say I can't help Frowning Face
