Why was the ratification of the Constitution by New York so important?
A) Without New York ratifying the Constitution, there would be an insufficient number of ratifying states for the Constitution to be enacted.
B) New York was emerging as the financial center of the country and no new national government could thrive without New York.
C) It would be politically damaging for the Constitution to be defeated in a state where the Anti-Federalists were relatively weak.
D) New York was seriously being considered as the new political capital of the United States.
