I am trying to find a currently used method,  but any suggestions are welcomed. The optical isomers are of a metal complex. Thanks.

You would separate them using a chiral method. One good method is ELISA, which uses enzymes. Within naturally-occuring systems only one isomer will be attached to an enzyme, not both.
