Can I make a laser pointer from a class 1 laser diode?

I want to make a laser pointer, but all I have is a class 1 diode from an old cd drive. Is it safe and will it work?

NO, the built-in reflector for CD drive laser diode is short focusing that unable to project long distance concentration beam like laser pointer diode.
