Rather difficult to answer any of your questions without a diagram of the scene.
If the force us truly upward directed against gravity and the movement is in a horizontal direction only then statement B is true. The force does no work on the crate because work is the product of a force and a movement along the direction of the force. This scene would have no movement along the direction of the force.
Quantifying the force or work would take more details, like from the NOT shown below diagram.
