According to the law of conservation of energy, energy is not created from nothing.  It is either converted from mass or from other types of energy.  In this case, where does the energy for gravity come from?

For instance, the force pushing down the water in Niagara Falls is gravity, and we generate electricity from this energy.  Where does this energy come from?

It's God's power and God is very mysterious, What will you get if you knew the answer? It's better if you live with the mystery because if you keep from asking, you'll get stressed and you will grow old quickly. Slight Smile)

Just a freaky advise Slight Smile

Gravity has no energy. the energy of Niagra falls comes from the rain. The sun's energy put the water higher than the falls. when the water is high, it is called potential energy. as the water is pulled lower, it releases energy; this is called kinetic energy. it is not the gravity that has the energy, it is the change in position of the water.

Gravity isn't energy.

The fall of water is caused by potential energy.

Gravity is a hard one to answer.
The best explaination thus far is the Theory of Special Relativity.  It basically says that matter of sufficient mass bends spacetime as you approach it.  Think of spacetime as your mattress.  What happens when you set a bowling ball on your mattress?  It sinks down in it right?  Well what happens when you set a basketball down on the edge of your mattress?  It roles to the center of the mattress right next to the bowling ball.  It's hard to understand spacetime because it's a dimension that the mind has a hard time understanding, but that is basically how it works.  Take a heavy enough object that will rip through your mattress and that would describe a black hole.  Where the hole leads??  That's the real question.

To put it basically, the atoms in water and the atoms of Earth attract each other, as do all other atoms attract all other atoms if they have existed long enough for light to travel between them. More specifically it does this by warping space to pull them closer. Gravity IS the warping of space. It doesn't use energy per se. It's relative
