The force applied to a cart is 10.5 N. The cart moves toward the right with an acceleration also toward the right of 1.75m/s^2. What are the magnitude and direction of the frictional force?

the direction will be opposite(to the left) , because the object is moving to the right. friction always opposes motion, so it will wantr to make the object move in the opposite direction.

The job of friction is to oppose relative motion between the bodies.
So, to stop the block from moving (since it cannot move the floor) it acts in leftwards direction.

and acc = (applied force - fric. force)/ mass
but the mass is absent
