1,2,3,4 -- The excess cortisol secretion associated with Cushing’s syndrome results in sodium and water reabsorption, causing symptoms of fluid volume excess including weight gain, edema, and hypertension. The nurse may note ausculatory crackles and wheezes with lung auscultation as well as jugular vein distention with assessment.
