Jupiter’s moon, Europa, appears to have liquid water just beneath its frozen surface, as deduced from ice-flow patterns on spacecraft images and their inferred movement. If so, what would be the source of heating which keeps this water from freezing?

(a)   Tidal distortion and stress caused by the forces from Jupiter and its major moons.
(b)   Solar radiation, which at Jupiter’s orbital distance is easily capable of melting ice.
(c)   Radioactive decay of elements within the central core of the moon.
