1 - The cells of the stomach produce intrinsic factor, which are required for the absorption of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 deficiency leads to pernicious anemia. Because of hepatic stores of vitamin B12, symptoms of anemia may not be seen for one to two years after surgery. There are no clinical manifestations presented to support the reoccurrence or metastasis of the cancer. The patient is seeking clarification of their condition not demonstrating an inability to cope.
