1.) the following experiments were performed on a single unit smooth muscle in the gastrointestinal tract. the results are described:

a.)electrical stimulation of the autonomic nerve serving the smooth muscle produced a contraction
b.)applying a drug that blocks the voltage gated sodium channels in the sarcolemma of the smooth muscle cell lead to a failure to contract upon stimulating the autonomic nerve
c.)applying a drug that blocks the acetylcholine receptors did not prevent the muscle from contracting when the nerve was stimulated

---from these observations, describe how stimulation of this autonomic nerve brings about the contraction of this smooth muscle??
