I have a quiz tomorrow and I have no idea of how to "compare and contrast" the two.
Automatic 10 points for a good answer!

deciduous or "hardwood" trees lose their leaves in the fall. Conifers or "softwood" trees usually keep their needles or whatever else they have year round. There are exceptions but that's the main difference. Plus hardwood burns hotter and softwood is oilier so it can cause fires in the chimney.
