Enterohemorrhagic  E.coli (EHEC) has caused severe food poisoning outbreaks in the United States and elsewhere.  In order for the EHEC to colonize the host intestinal epithelium, it must have a mechanism for attachment. When EHEC are grown in vitro with cultured human epithelium cells, the bacteria, the bacteria can form fibrils that attach them to the epithelial cells. Design a microscopic method to simultaneously visualize EHEC and the human epithelial cells and briefly discuss why you choose that particular type of microscope over others.
