You have already pointed out two of the main essential adaptations for life on land:  lignin-reinforcement to compensate for the loss of buoyancy in aqueous and marine environments and provision for water and nutrient transport.  I would also point out that land plants have evolved more elaborate means of bringing together the male and female partner cells involved in sexual reproduction.  Also, dispersal of seeds into the environment is a uniquely land-plant-based phenomenon.
