1 -- Lung transplant is not contraindicated per se in individuals with systemic disease such as diabetes mellitus and collagen disease. Current contraindications for lung transplant include dysfunction of major organs other than the lung, HIV infection, hepatitis B antigen positivity, hepatitis C with biopsy proven-histologic evidence of liver disease, and active malignancy within the past two years with the exception of basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma.
