1 -- Throw rugs, cords, and other objects that impinge on traffic areas and improper use of assistive devices like canes and walkers increase the risk of falls at home for older adults. Advising the patient to avoid cooking and driving are not realistic in the plan of care. Assistive devices are intended to promote independence and should be used by the patient.
