1 -- Woman are affected by MS two times more often then man. Onset is typically between the ages of 20 and 40. High rates of multiple sclerosis occur in regions of northern Europe, the United States, and Canada. The diagnostic studies to make a diagnosis of MS include examination of the CSF and an MRI to identify increase in immunoglobulin G as well as sclerotic plaque lesions on the spinal cord. Family history of epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and depression are important items of the patient’s history, but do not support a diagnosis of MS.
