1 -- Ototoxic drugs damage the hair cells of the organ of Corti resulting in sensorineural hearing loss. Ototoxic drugs include aspirin, furosemide (Lasix), aminoglycosides, streptomycin, vancomycin (Vancocin), antimalarial drugs, and chemotherapy such as cisplantin (Platinol). Low-dose aspirin is not a cause and steroids and atorvastatin are not ototoxic.
