3,4,5 -- The colpscopy is a minor procedure to manage cervical dysplasia. The procedure is performed in the physician’s office. The patient does not need to avoid heavy lifting for weeks. Vaginal discharge is anticipated after the procedure. Perineal pads should be used to manage the discharge. Douching and tampons are to be avoided. The patient may experience some mild discomfort for which an NSAID such as ibuprofen may be taken. Temperature elevations may signal the presence of an infection and must be reported to the physician.
