I have a project where I need to identify the ingredients to a food.  I picked vanilla ice cream and I am so confused D:  I just can't seem to understand; is table sugar (which is a disaccharide made from fructose and glucose) also a polymer?  Help!

Also what would vanilla extract be?  I understand it's an alcohol, but I am not sure what that is classified as.

a dissacharide is a polymer of two monosaccharides.

well i can only help with the first part unfortunately (sorry).
polymer means many monomers (poly=many). a disaccharide is two monosaccharides and monosaccharides are the monomers of carbohydrates. (di=two, mono=one). therefore, a disaccharide would be considered a polymer since it's made up of two monomers.

it's a little confusing, but I hope that helped

a polymer is a chain of amino acids.

a disacharide is a chain of simple sugars.

i think that table sugar would be a dissacharide. (starch)
