Hey guys a simple question compared to every other question here, I was on a trip in Arizona recently and took a picture of rocky field and upon further inspection I found what looks like a dead rat, was just wondering what someone elses expert opinion would be on the picture?

Also I zoomed in on the picture and adjusted the contrast to see it better.

Cool picture, looks like a shrew or some sort, or a baby anteater perhaps, hard to tell.

If it looked like a dead rat, it could be a kangaroo rat, I know they're in AZ. They're related to gerbils.  Kangaroo Rat

Ya that also came to mind, someone said it looked like it was just light playing off of the rock to create the illusion of a dead animal, but to a laymen like myself it looks like it obviously had two legs, a tail, a head and a different texture from the rocks around it.

No chance of that by the looks of this.

Interesting, now if I were to tell you that this photo was not taken in Arizona, was instead found on NASA's website and is in fact a picture from Mars, what does this mean?

Believe it or not the picture is actually from Mars, just wanted a more educated opinion on what you guys thought it was. There have been several now, a quick Google search should bring them up, below I posted the original unedited image from NASA's website. I forget what the original image title was but again its all over the internet right now.

In the original photo the object in question is in the upper left center of the photo. The picture was from a recent photo released by NASA from the Mars rover.

Wow, what a cheat Wink Face But clearly it isn't an animal then. Mars's atmosphere wouldn't be able to sustain that sort of life.

Thanks for sharing the actual with us.
