Distilled water, 0.66% catechol, and potato enzyme (source of catechol oxidase( was combined into a solution that was placed in multiple test tubes. Salt was added to each test tube at varying amounts. Salt will inhibit the potato enzyme from converting catechol to benzoquinone. The hypothesis of the experiment was: If there was higher amounts of salt concentration then less benzoquinone would be produced. I want to know if salt acts a competitive inhibitor or a non-competitive inhibitor in this experiment?

Neither, I think salt disrupts by the enzyme by denaturing it. I don't think salt would compete for the native spot of catechol. If I were to choose between the two, I'd choose non-competitive inhibitor
