Question asks:
Reproductive isolation can cause speciation in:
(A)Populations of the same species with overlapping ranges
(B)Two species that are separated by a geographical barrier
(C)Two species that come together after a period of isolation
(D)Two species with different mating behavior

The given answer is A. I selected C since I thought that?s how a new species can emerge (thus, speciation?). Doesn?t the overlapping ranges (unisolated!) maintain the same species instead of speciation?
