The Cell Cycle.

The cell spends most of its life in Interphase which is composed of these 3 parts:
-G1 (Gap 1, growth)
-S phase (dna replication in preparation of cell division)
-G2 (Gap 2, growth 2)

Then if all the checkpoints are passed, the cell moves along to the Mitotic Phase which is composed of:
-Mitosis
-Cytokinesis

In Mitosis:
-Prophase (nuclear membrane is gone, dna is condensed)
-Metaphase (chromatids are attached to spindle fibers and lined up in the center of the cell)
-Anaphase (sister chromatids separate to opposite sides of the cell)
-Telophase (the cell begins to split off to form two daughter cells, nuclear membrane is formed, cell is ready to separate)
-----------END OF MITOSIS--------------

Next is Cytokinesis...the separation of cytoplasm and organelles.
Now you have two new daughter cells and the cycle repeats.
